The meeting was called to order by President, Sandy Marcy, who thanked the Mt Morris Ladies for providing treats.
Secretaries Report: The Secretaries report for January was approved by motion by Pat and seconded by Sue and carried.
Treasurer’s Report: Sandy reports a beginning balance of $7,130.30. Checks were written for $911.41 and there were deposits of $46 leaving a balance of $6,264.89.
New Business: Pat provided a handout that explains how we will proceed with the friendship runner project. If you were not at the meeting or did not receive a copy of the handout, contact Pat or Mary Jo. The handout is too large to print in the minutes, but it contains valuable information if you are interested in participating in the project. If you have not already signed up for the project, please contact Mary Jo so that the pattern may be adjusted for the number participating. The project will begin at the March meeting when we will measure and cut and mark the grid pattern on the linen. You will need to bring items at that time, such as: ruler/yardstick, magic marker, scissors, and red dot fabric.
April Road Trip: Sue will contact the Quilt and Fiber Art Museum in Cedarburg to find out the particulars for the trip. (Hours, arranging the meeting space, directions, etc.) She will report at the March meeting.
Old Business: Workshop with Patty Piek-Groth of Janesville, WI. The workshop dates are Thursday and Friday, May 19 and 20 in Wisconsin Rapids. Patty will be teaching finishing techniques and embellishments. She will bring linen and wool scraps. The Guild will pay for 1 day of the class fee. Pam will be getting details on the cost, pattern, number of students Patty will allow, etc.
Sign up info for the class will be by email at a later date.
Hook In: Sandy Marcy volunteered to be the Hook In Co-Chair. Kathy volunteered to coordinate the luncheon. A sign-up sheet was passed so that everyone attending could sign up for a job at the Hook In. If you have not yet signed up to help, please contact Sandy. It would be nice if all members assisted in some way.
We need to have “postcard” flyers made up to hand out at the Cream City Hook In.
Pat Boesel has volunteered to make a Guild Facebook page and to distribute Hook In flyers to groups in her area (Durand, Eau Claire). I will be forwarding her email following the minutes, as requested.
Xmas Party: Pam has made arrangements for the party at the SilverCryst restaurant in Wautoma. The party will be on December 1, 2016 from 11:00 to 1:00 or 2:00. Menu choices to be decided but include family style chicken and ribs or individual ordered menu items.
The meeting was adjourned by motion by Sue and seconded by Pat.
Show and tell followed the meeting and we had a demonstration on whipping a corner by Pam. Thank you Pam.
Addendum to Minutes: Sandy suggested that the Guild prepare and sell rug labels at the Hook In. It was agreed that this was a good idea and we discussed what should go on the labels.
Sandy also announced that Pam will be teaching a class on an Alaskan Cruise in September. Check you most recent ATHA issue for details. (Sounds like fun!)
Reminders: The March 3rd meeting will be held in Waupaca.
The featured demo will be “Finishing a New Way” by Mary Jo and Pat.
